If you are having difficulty coping with any aspect of your prostate cancer, we can help. Our services include one-on-one and family counseling at no extra cost to our patients.
Our in-house psychologist Dr. Andrew Matthew is a clinical psychologist and clinician-investigator in the Department of Surgery and the Department of Psychosocial Oncology and Palliative Care at The Princess Margaret. His research focuses on urologic cancers and involves cancer prevention, treatment decision-making, sexual rehabilitation, intimacy, quality of life, and survivorship. Dr. Matthew has over 15 years of professional experience in the area of health psychology and is an expert in the field of prostate cancer and its psychological impact. He is a registered psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario whose goal is to use his knowledge and experience to improve the lives of individuals, couples and families confronting the challenges of prostate cancer.
Our team of counselors are available to provide one-on-one and family counseling from diagnosis throughout the trajectory of the disease. We always endeavour to provide the number of sessions required to help patients, partners and families cope with their disease. Sessions are available at no additional cost to our patients.
